Meet Duke Duquette!

Before joining us, Duke was the Senior Vice President at CMU College. Our collaboration started when he brought Sidi.io on board to enhance the school's results and registrations.

Before CMU College, Duke dedicated 23 years to Bell Canada, specializing in loyalty, retention, reporting, training, forecasting, and planning. His wealth of experience offers a unique understanding of customer relationships and the proactive approach needed in loyalty and retention.

We recently sat down with Duke to get to know him a little bit better.

Duke Duquette, Client Experience Specialist

What inspired you to join the team at Sidi.io?

  • Initially, I was a client of Sidi.io, and the experience of working with this team left a lasting positive impression on me. The quality of their work and their commitment to delivering exceptional results truly stood out.
  • Effective communication is essential to me, and I found that Sidi.io excels in this aspect. They prioritize clear and open communication, which eliminates unnecessary complications and ensures that everyone is on the same page. This approach to teamwork is something I highly value.
  • Helping business owners and leaders achieve their goals while letting them focus on the business is a passion of mine.

What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned throughout your career?

  • Invest in People: One of the most crucial lessons I've learned is the importance of investing in people. Building strong relationships and nurturing a supportive work environment not only boosts morale but also enhances productivity and overall success. I've discovered that when you prioritize your team and colleagues, it fosters a sense of unity and motivation that can lead to remarkable achievements.
  • Understand Your Metrics: Another significant lesson is the necessity of understanding and closely monitoring key performance metrics. Metrics provide valuable insights into the health and progress of a project or organization. While results might identify a negative or a positive, your metrics will tell you if there is a problem and where it is.  Negative results aren’t always bad.
  • Stay Curious: Lastly, staying curious has been a guiding principle for me. In a constantly evolving professional landscape, curiosity fuels personal growth and innovation. Embracing new ideas, technologies, and opportunities for learning has allowed me to adapt and thrive in various roles and industries.

Tell us a bit about your family:

  • My free time is spent with my wife Jess and my stepdaughter Ray, who is 9 years old.
  • I’m very lucky that my team is just as flexible and excitable as I am, which often takes us on last-minute adventures or changing vacation plans while we are in the middle of a vacation.

What is a dream that you want to make come true one day?

  • To be dropped off on an abandoned atoll in the Pacific Ocean for a week with some supplies and a tent.  I love things that make me feel small or put life into scale.  Other than going to space, this has always felt like the most alone and tiny experience ever.

What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?

  • With a philosophy in life of staying curious and forever being young at heart, I always enjoy trying and learning new things.  As I am replying to this message, my new practice drum pad just arrived in the mail.  So a solid attempt a drumming is next.  The longer term would be learning to sail and crossing a major ocean.

How do you typically approach problem-solving?

  • Never assume anything.  Enter everything with an open mind and curiosity.
  • Every opportunity has multiple solutions.  Look at things from different perspectives
  • Data doesn’t always tell the whole story.
  • What worked before, might not work again.
  • Fail fast.

What methods do you use to stay motivated and focused?

  • Luckily I am a naturally motivated person, however, over the years I have learned that the best way to stay focused sometimes is to break your focus.  Pausing to refresh can really reset your focus.

How would your best friend describe you in three words?

  • Family First
  • Always Curious
  • Endless Adventurer

What is keeping you busy these days?

  • Having a 6-month-old puppy named Carter is so much more work than I remember it being.  I always remember the well-trained, good-behaved dog they will become…  But until then, they are a handful!  Thankfully at 8lbs, there is only so much damage she can actually do.
