There are only 15 days left until 2021, which is why we wanted to highlight each and every member of our amazing team before the year ends.
Without these talented individuals, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Jenna Somerton, Graphic & Web Designer
What is your favourite thing about your role?
Having had my own business for many years, I’ve gotten used to wearing many ‘hats’. My role at Sidi.io allows me to hone my true skill-set and creativity. It has been such an exciting adventure working on innovative solutions and being able to think outside the box.
What is the favourite part about working for Sidi.io?
The amazing team I get to work with! It’s so wonderful working alongside professions in their own fields and complementing one another in our work. It’s inspiring to work for a company that isn’t afraid to stand out and push the envelope, but that knows it’s strongest assets start with a talented team.
What celebrity do people say you look like?
I’ve been told that I look a bit like Malin Åkerman & Kirsten Dunst, I think because of the cheeks… but I think I’m just one of a kind 😉
Where is the best place you’ve travelled to and why?
The Netherlands both for its beauty, culture and because I have roots there. Iceland is also an amazing place to visit and like nowhere else on earth! Oktoberfest in Munich was an amazing time. A friend and I got so extremely lucky to sneak into the most famous beer tent and ended up meeting and sharing a stein with the Mayor of Munich and Minister-President of Bavaria!
I really can’t say that there is one single place that is my favourite though, it’s more the adventures and memories along the way.
Where is your favourite place to be?
Always with family and friends, especially in my quirky little hometown of Merrickville. Also, being half Dutch and having half of my family in the Netherlands, I try to visit as much as possible. It’s my home away from home, especially a small little town up north called Zuidlaren.
Any favourite line from a movie?
I have two: “There’s no place, like home” from Wizard of Oz and “Curious and curiouser” from Louis Carrols’s Alice in Wonderland.
As much as I love to travel, there really is no place like home.
The second quote reminds me to never limit your curiosity and to always keep questioning the world around you.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Travel! I’ve always wanted to do that thing where you show up at the airport and pick a random destination. No plans, no bags – just head out on an adventure and figure out the rest as you go. I would love to then rent (or buy!) a private island and invite everyone I love. Once I’m on a beach somewhere, I’ll pay off any debts while sipping a margarita.
What is the first concert you attended?
Great Big Sea in Brockville when I was about 12. A friend and I had seats that were ‘supposed’’ to be next to one another but ended up being one seat on either side of the very large audio booth. It was an interesting first experience…
Do you have any hobbies?
– Being crafty
– Random adventures
– Mcgyvering solutions
– Loving cats
What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
I actually find cleaning and organizing quite cathartic…except for when it comes to bathrooms. Yuck! I am also lucky to have a partner that is an amazing cook, so I (obviously) prefer not to.
What simple thing in life brings you the most joy?
I really really enjoy solving problems and tend to be quite a McGyver with solutions. I also loooove treasure hunting for second-hand finds, especially with my mom and brother.
Do you have a favourite holiday?
Any holiday that includes time with my family. I like Halloween aesthetically and all the creativity that comes with it.
Canada Day is also one of my favourites. Being in our capital makes it very special and having friends and family visit from other countries to take part really makes you realize how amazing our city and country is. Plus fireworks, who doesn’t love fireworks!
